When you say the Gold Nugget can take "full sun", do you mean in New Mexico? Our full sun can be pretty intense

They can take full sun, if acclimated to it, but the full sun plus the heat and lack of any humidity can be fatal. In New Mexico it'd be a good idea to use shade cloth, or even a well placed rock, to create partial sun conditions.
