I just received mine a few months ago from MCG. The tips/leaves are browning. Is it just going dormant? (Zone 7)

Hi there!
Yes! It seems that your plant is just going dormant. They can go dormant even if they haven't flowered and they should go dormant every summer. When its leaves really start turning brown, go ahead and reduce the amount of water it's receiving.
